AAA-rated protection in a lightweight riding hoodie. The John Doe XTM Hoodie V3 Softshell Rip-Stop combines XTM® abrasion resistance, durable Softshell Rip-Stop fabric and a 10,000mm waterproof* column.
The John Doe XTM Hoodie V3 Softshell Rip-Stop combines the casual look of an everyday hoodie with the protection level expected from serious motorcycle gear. Built around the brand’s proven XTM® protective construction, it delivers outstanding abrasion resistance while remaining lightweight, flexible and comfortable for daily riding.
At the core of the hoodie sits the XTM-Fibre® reinforcement layer. This advanced fibre blend significantly increases abrasion resistance without compromising flexibility, allowing the garment to achieve AAA certification according to EN 17092-3:2020. Integrated protector pockets in the shoulders, elbows and back provide additional impact protection. The hoodie comes equipped with Level 1 shoulder and elbow protectors and can easily be upgraded to Level 2 for higher impact absorption.
The outer shell uses a durable Softshell Rip-Stop fabric designed to withstand daily use while remaining lightweight and breathable. Combined with the integrated Waterstop function and a tested 10,000 mm water column, the material offers waterproofness* against drizzle and light to moderate rain. YKK AquaGuard zips add another barrier against wind and water, making the hoodie particularly suitable for commuting and unpredictable weather conditions.
Comfort and ergonomics are carefully tuned for riding. A slightly extended back panel offers improved coverage in the riding position, while the stretch construction allows unrestricted movement on and off the bike. The adjustable hood features a one-hand stopper system and a button-down anti-flap design to prevent it from catching wind at speed.

Motorcycle gear comes in various levels of waterproofness, which is important for comfort and safety during wet rides. Most waterproof jackets, pants, gloves, and footwear have a membrane that prevents water from penetrating the outer layer. These products keep you dry, but there's a limit to how much they can penetrate. A waterproof membrane doesn't mean 100% waterproof. With prolonged exposure to rain or under high pressure, the outer layer can still let moisture through. This means you could get wet after longer rides in heavy rain, especially in areas where the fabric moves intensively or where seams are less well-protected.
Looking for 100% waterproof? Then choose a product with a Gore-Tex membrane. Gore-Tex is a specially designed membrane that is both waterproof and breathable. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are too small for water droplets to penetrate, but large enough to allow water vapor (sweat) to escape. This keeps rain and spray out, while your body heat and moisture are wicking away. You will ride dry and comfortable, even in prolonged or heavy rain.
In short: regular waterproof motorcycle clothing keeps out short(er) rainshowers, while Gore-Tex effectively protects against prolonged rain and at the same time provides breathable comfort.
