The Alpinestars Crosshill Air Waterproof motorcycle jacket is a multi-season touring jacket that has a precise ‘drop’ liner system allowing riders to quickly and easily adapt it to best suit the climate conditions, and utilizes a modern material mix for maximum performance in any weather. Multi-season functionality; the detachable waterproof* liner can be worn inside or outside the main chassis that features large tech mesh panels, and this, plus a detachable thermal liner, allow the jacket to be optimized to the climate conditions.
With military-inspired construction and styling, this jacket is equipped with a high tenacity rugged main chassis incorporating Dobby weaved reinforcements for strength, two large mesh panels for optimum breathability and airflow, and a detachable waterproof liner, allowing it to be tailored to the elements. Engineered with a touring fit and multiple volume adjustment to fit all riders and body shapes, this jacket is Tech-Air® ready and can accommodate the Tech-Air® 5 Airbag System.

Motorcycle gear comes in various levels of waterproofness, which is important for comfort and safety during wet rides. Most waterproof jackets, pants, gloves, and footwear have a membrane that prevents water from penetrating the outer layer. These products keep you dry, but there's a limit to how much they can penetrate. A waterproof membrane doesn't mean 100% waterproof. With prolonged exposure to rain or under high pressure, the outer layer can still let moisture through. This means you could get wet after longer rides in heavy rain, especially in areas where the fabric moves intensively or where seams are less well-protected.
Looking for 100% waterproof? Then choose a product with a Gore-Tex membrane. Gore-Tex is a specially designed membrane that is both waterproof and breathable. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are too small for water droplets to penetrate, but large enough to allow water vapor (sweat) to escape. This keeps rain and spray out, while your body heat and moisture are wicking away. You will ride dry and comfortable, even in prolonged or heavy rain.
In short: regular waterproof motorcycle clothing keeps out short(er) rainshowers, while Gore-Tex effectively protects against prolonged rain and at the same time provides breathable comfort.
