The Macna MUBP Rideford is a waterproof backpack with a utility-style look, Night Eye™ fabric, and P.A.L.S. to expand luggage capacity. The main compartment of the Rideford features a two-way zip, a waterproof pocket with a waterproof zip, and a hydration port. Its secondary compartment is also fitted with a two-way zip. Mesh pockets are present at the sides to store things like bottles and such. This backpack provides a total of 18 litres of additional luggage capacity.
The front consists largely of Night Eye™ fabric: grey fabric covered with microscopic dishes that reflect light back to its source. It increases visibility when it really matters, without making you look like a traffic sign all the time.
Its back and straps are fitted with foam and mesh to create a little distance between the bag and the body, which provides the needed ventilation. The back is also equipped with a Hydration Port so you can hydrate whilst riding. A modern variant of P.A.L.S. is also present at the front of the backpack.

Motorcycle gear comes in various levels of waterproofness, which is important for comfort and safety during wet rides. Most waterproof jackets, pants, gloves, and footwear have a membrane that prevents water from penetrating the outer layer. These products keep you dry, but there's a limit to how much they can penetrate. A waterproof membrane doesn't mean 100% waterproof. With prolonged exposure to rain or under high pressure, the outer layer can still let moisture through. This means you could get wet after longer rides in heavy rain, especially in areas where the fabric moves intensively or where seams are less well-protected.
Looking for 100% waterproof? Then choose a product with a Gore-Tex membrane. Gore-Tex is a specially designed membrane that is both waterproof and breathable. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are too small for water droplets to penetrate, but large enough to allow water vapor (sweat) to escape. This keeps rain and spray out, while your body heat and moisture are wicking away. You will ride dry and comfortable, even in prolonged or heavy rain.
In short: regular waterproof motorcycle clothing keeps out short(er) rainshowers, while Gore-Tex effectively protects against prolonged rain and at the same time provides breathable comfort.
