Description

The all-season Alpinestars Bogotá Pro Drystar® jacket has been engineered to deliver optimal protection, weather performance and comfort. This motorcycle jacket is equipped with Alpinestars’ Drystar® membrane for waterproof* and breathable performance. The three-layer ‘liner to drop’ system allows the jacket to be configured to the conditions, while being quick and easy to use. The Bogotá has extensive ventilation panels on the chest, full back and arms for effective climate control in any conditions.

The Bogotá Pro Drystar® Jacket adapts to all riding needs and is the ideal liner-to-drop all-season jacket. The jacket has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment for effective all-weather performance and superior comfort in any weather conditions, wet or dry. The Drystar® removable waterproof liner can be worn over or under the main outer shell for real-world practicality and versatility.

How waterproof is this item?

Motorcycle gear comes in various levels of waterproofness, which is important for comfort and safety during wet rides. Most waterproof jackets, pants, gloves, and footwear have a membrane that prevents water from penetrating the outer layer. These products keep you dry, but there's a limit to how much they can penetrate. A waterproof membrane doesn't mean 100% waterproof. With prolonged exposure to rain or under high pressure, the outer layer can still let moisture through. This means you could get wet after longer rides in heavy rain, especially in areas where the fabric moves intensively or where seams are less well-protected.

Looking for 100% waterproof? Then choose a product with a Gore-Tex membrane. Gore-Tex is a specially designed membrane that is both waterproof and breathable. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are too small for water droplets to penetrate, but large enough to allow water vapor (sweat) to escape. This keeps rain and spray out, while your body heat and moisture are wicking away. You will ride dry and comfortable, even in prolonged or heavy rain.

In short: regular waterproof motorcycle clothing keeps out short(er) rainshowers, while Gore-Tex effectively protects against prolonged rain and at the same time provides breathable comfort.
