The Dainese Smart GO is a lightweight, compact airbag vest for everyday motorcycle riding. Weighing just 780 g, it provides Level 2 certified protection for the chest and back. It can be worn over or under motorcycle gear or casual clothing, with no physical connection to the motorcycle. The electronic D-air® system detects specific crash scenarios and automatically deploys the airbag when the required conditions are met.
The Smart GO works with the Dainese D-air® App on a compatible smartphone, with Bluetooth and GPS enabled. Its adjustable waist strap and front sections help achieve the correct fit. For proper airbag deployment, at least 8 cm of clearance must be maintained across the chest and back.
How does the system work?
After registration and activation through the Dainese D-air® App, the system automatically arms when it detects vehicle vibrations or a speed exceeding 10 km/h. Using sensor and GPS data from your smartphone, it identifies specific crash scenarios, including collisions with obstacles or other vehicles, high-side crashes and low-side crashes, with or without rolling. The airbag deploys when the required conditions are met.
Dainese's patented Diaframma technology helps the airbag maintain its shape during impact. The Dynamic Arch Effect helps distribute the impact across the covered areas.
Power supply and battery life
The vest is powered via its integrated USB-C cable, connected to an OTG-compatible smartphone or the dedicated Smart GO Powerbank (sold separately). The D-air® App lets you check the system status, receive notifications and install firmware updates. The optional powerbank provides up to 72 hours of operation. Runtime when powered by a smartphone depends on its battery.
Replacing the gas cartridge
The gas cartridge is housed in the rear compartment and can be replaced by yourself. The airbag supports up to three deployments, provided the system remains in suitable condition. After each deployment, the vest must be inspected and pass an airbag integrity test before the CO₂ cartridge kit is replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions. After the third deployment, the vest must no longer be used.
Certification and intended use
The Smart GO is Category II personal protective equipment under Regulation (EU) 2016/425. It is intended for road use on motorcycles and scooters, including suitable unpaved roads at low or moderate speeds. It is not intended for track use or specialised off-road activities. The D-air® system deploys the airbag only when the specified conditions are met. It does not eliminate all risks associated with riding.
