The Alpinestars Maxdura Drystar XF is engineered for riders who demand serious climate performance, mobility and protection in one advanced adventure motorcycle jacket. Designed for dual sport and off-road conditions, it combines a laminated waterproof construction with high-level impact protection and extensive ventilation control.
At the core of this jacket sits a lightweight 3-layer Drystar®XF stretch laminated outer shell. Because the membrane is directly laminated to the outer fabric, water cannot saturate the jacket, meaning it stays lighter in heavy rain and dries faster. With 15,000 mm waterproofing* and 15,000 g/m²/24h breathability, you remain dry externally while internal moisture is efficiently managed during long-distance adventure riding.
Strategic reinforcements in critical zones increase abrasion resistance, making it suitable for demanding terrain and extended ADV travel. Meanwhile, Nucleon Flex Pro CE Level 2 shoulder and elbow protectors provide lightweight, flexible impact protection that exceeds standard CE requirements. The jacket is CE Certified AA and fully Tech-Air® Ready, allowing integration with a Tech-Air® Off-Road Airbag System once the internal armour is removed.
Temperature regulation is equally advanced. Direct ventilation panels at the torso and biceps, combined with rear exhaust vents and a frontal super airflow system, allow you to actively control airflow during warm-weather or high-intensity riding.
Fit and ergonomics are carefully considered. The short soft collar improves comfort when standing on the pegs, forearm adjusters stabilise the elbow protectors for precise positioning, and a lower hem shock cord keeps the jacket securely in place. Water-resistant cargo pockets and a waterproof chest pocket ensure your essentials stay protected and accessible.

Motorcycle gear comes in various levels of waterproofness, which is important for comfort and safety during wet rides. Most waterproof jackets, pants, gloves, and footwear have a membrane that prevents water from penetrating the outer layer. These products keep you dry, but there's a limit to how much they can penetrate. A waterproof membrane doesn't mean 100% waterproof. With prolonged exposure to rain or under high pressure, the outer layer can still let moisture through. This means you could get wet after longer rides in heavy rain, especially in areas where the fabric moves intensively or where seams are less well-protected.
Looking for 100% waterproof? Then choose a product with a Gore-Tex membrane. Gore-Tex is a specially designed membrane that is both waterproof and breathable. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are too small for water droplets to penetrate, but large enough to allow water vapor (sweat) to escape. This keeps rain and spray out, while your body heat and moisture are wicking away. You will ride dry and comfortable, even in prolonged or heavy rain.
In short: regular waterproof motorcycle clothing keeps out short(er) rainshowers, while Gore-Tex effectively protects against prolonged rain and at the same time provides breathable comfort.
