The Alpinestars C-5 Drystar motorcycle jacket combines the casual look of a softshell with the protection and weather performance expected from modern touring motorcycle gear. Whether you're commuting throughout the week or heading out for longer rides, this versatile jacket keeps you comfortable in changing conditions.
Its two-layer Drystar® construction features a fixed waterproof and breathable membrane* that keeps rain out while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape. When temperatures drop, the removable 100g thermal vest adds extra warmth without unnecessary bulk, making the jacket suitable across multiple seasons.
Comfort is further enhanced by the regular fit, adjustable waist, lower hem shock cord and hook and loop flaps on the cuffs allowing you to fine-tune the fit for every ride. The integrated hood folds away neatly and stays securely in place thanks to a magnetic retention system, preventing unwanted movement at speed.
For protection, the C-5 Drystar comes equipped with Level 1 Nucleon Flex protectors at the shoulders and elbows and is Tech-Air® Ready. It can also be upgraded with an optional Alpinestars back protector and chest protector for increased impact protection. Practical details, including a waterproof inner pocket, dedicated keyless-entry pocket and reflective elements, complete this highly functional waterproof motorcycle jacket.

Motorcycle gear comes in various levels of waterproofness, which is important for comfort and safety during wet rides. Most waterproof jackets, pants, gloves, and footwear have a membrane that prevents water from penetrating the outer layer. These products keep you dry, but there's a limit to how much they can penetrate. A waterproof membrane doesn't mean 100% waterproof. With prolonged exposure to rain or under high pressure, the outer layer can still let moisture through. This means you could get wet after longer rides in heavy rain, especially in areas where the fabric moves intensively or where seams are less well-protected.
Looking for 100% waterproof? Then choose a product with a Gore-Tex membrane. Gore-Tex is a specially designed membrane that is both waterproof and breathable. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are too small for water droplets to penetrate, but large enough to allow water vapor (sweat) to escape. This keeps rain and spray out, while your body heat and moisture are wicking away. You will ride dry and comfortable, even in prolonged or heavy rain.
In short: regular waterproof motorcycle clothing keeps out short(er) rainshowers, while Gore-Tex effectively protects against prolonged rain and at the same time provides breathable comfort.
Choose a Level 1 or Level 2 back protector. Level 2 has a higher impact value than Level 1.
