A separate rain jacket is the lightest and quickest solution when it starts raining while you're on the road. If you ride with a motorcycle jacket with a membrane or removable waterproof liner, a thin, compact rain jacket is usually enough as an emergency backup in your motorcycle luggage.
Do you ride all year round or regularly go on long touring rides in the rain? Then choose a more durable model with an inner lining. This lining prevents the jacket from sticking to your motorcycle gear or skin when you put it on over a wet layer.
If you also want to keep your legs dry, combine your rain jacket with rain pants, or choose a complete rain suit. For your hands and feet, separate overgloves and boot covers are available.
Waterproofing and seam construction. Taped seams prevent water from entering through the stitching.
Windproofing. A windproof layer makes a big difference to how cold it feels, even when it stays dry.
Adjustability. Adjustable sleeves, waist and hem keep the jacket snug and prevent it from flapping at speed.
High collar. A well-fitting collar underneath your helmet helps keep water from running down your neck.
Reflective details. Reflective elements improve your visibility in grey and rainy conditions.
Pack size. The more compact the jacket packs down, the easier it is to take with you.
Important to know: a rain jacket is an outer layer, not protective motorcycle clothing. The A, AA and AAA abrasion-resistance classes under the EN 17092 standard and separate certified protectors apply to the motorcycle jacket worn underneath. A rain jacket does not add additional impact or abrasion protection. Also keep in mind that no garment is completely and indefinitely waterproof, especially during hours of heavy rain.
In this category, you'll find rain jackets from REV'IT!, Alpinestars, Dainese, Richa, Macna and GMS.
REV'IT! offers its H2O range, including models such as the Cyclone 4 H2O, Nitric 4 H2O and Barrier 2 H2O. From Alpinestars, you'll find options including the Hurricane Rain V2 Jacket and Racing Rain Jacket. Richa offers the Rain Flare 2 and Rain Stretch 2L Hoodie, while Macna has models such as the Rainger and Swan Women. If you're looking for an entry-level option, check out the range from GMS.
Want to combine a jacket and pants? Ideally, choose both from the same brand. Connecting a rain jacket to rain pants is usually only possible within the same brand, and the fit will generally work better together as well.
A motorcycle rain jacket is designed to fit over your motorcycle jacket. As a general rule, you can therefore choose the same size as your motorcycle jacket. If you wear a thick winter jacket with a thermal liner, going one size up may sometimes be more comfortable.
Not sure about the right size? Check the sizing information on the relevant product page or visit our store in Amsterdam. We'll be happy to help you try it on over your own motorcycle jacket.

A motorcycle rain jacket is designed to be worn over your motorcycle jacket and to withstand high speeds. It often features adjustment options to prevent flapping and reflective elements for increased visibility. This ensures a secure fit while riding, whereas a regular rain jacket may billow in the wind.
A good motorcycle rain jacket is waterproof and windproof, keeping you dry during heavy showers. However, no jacket is completely and indefinitely waterproof, especially during prolonged, heavy rain. Higher-end models often feature an inner lining to prevent the jacket from sticking to your motorcycle gear.
You wear the rain jacket over your motorcycle jacket, but generally you don't need to size up. These rain jackets are designed with enough room to accommodate a motorcycle jacket underneath, so you can usually choose the same size as your motorcycle jacket.
Our range includes brands such as REV'IT!, Alpinestars, Dainese, Richa, GMS and Held. This means there is a suitable rain jacket for every budget, from a simple emergency option to a model designed for riders who regularly ride in the rain.
Many rain jackets fold down compactly, making them easy to store in your tank bag, pannier or under your seat. That way, you'll always have one within reach when you're caught out by a sudden shower. Check the individual product page to see whether a storage pouch is included.
